The Clinton Comets edge the Eastern Hockey League-leading New Haven Blades by a 4-3 margin before 3,000 howling spectators at the Clinton Arena in a game that threatened several times to erupt into a melee. Comet Joe Nolan and the Blades' Alf Lewsey start the usual fisticuffs which come naturally between the rivals. Willie Pawchuk is the big man for the Comets, scoring the first Clinton goal in the first period and adding a second in the third. Veteran George Steele and rookie Jerry Stringle account for the other two Clinton goals.
