Green Mountain Rock Crushers obtain new majority ownership
Syracuse, NY-The Federal Hockey League is pleased to announce the rebirth of the "Green Mountain Rock Crushers" Hockey Club. The original investment group decided not to continue to bring the team to Jay Peak in mid June after they could not meet the structured requirements of the FHL, which left the Rock Crushers on the outside looking in. League Commissioner Don Kirnan continued to look for a well qualified owner to take control of the Rock Crushers. On Friday all of Mr. Kirnan's continued efforts paid off as Mr. Randall Latona agreed to be the majority owner of the team as well as serve as Governor. Mr. Latona is not new to Professional Hockey, as he formerly held the title of VP of Operations for the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Mr. Latona is a highly successful businessman in Vermont and throughout New England. Mr. Latona also owns the Green Mountain Arena in Morrisville, VT which the Rock Crushers will call home. Owning the arena and the team is a perfect fit for Mr. Latona. Mr. Latona has agreed to do some extensive renovations to the arena including a Rock Crushers locker room, additional seating as well as a VIP seating area to make it suitable for Minor Professional hockey. Andy Makal who was with the Rock Crushers from their inception, will continue on with the team as Director of Hockey Operations. Mr. Makal can be contacted via email at, [email protected] or on his cell phone, 814-528-8111. The Federal Hockey League will be playing a 53 game schedule including 5 games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston Maine, former home to the Maineiacs of the QMJHL. The rink is managed by Jim Cain who was instrumental in bringing these games to the Colisee. The FHL schedule is anticipated to be released mid next week.
